About the Artwork

This sunflower art print starts where nothing should grow. Harper Linwood sprayed a single bloom rising from a split in gray concrete, its stem twisting up out of the dark fissure. The petals are a warm, layered yellow, and the seed head is rough and textured like it was stenciled by hand.

Around the flower, a haze of orange and pink overspray glows like the paint is still wet. Thin drips run down from the petals, and one leaf trails off into a streak of teal. It reads as abstract sunflower wall art up top and as a gritty sidewalk scene below, and the two halves pull against each other in a good way.

It's for anyone who likes their florals with a little edge, people who grew up around city walls, or someone who needs a quiet reminder that things push through. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a friend starting over.

As canvas wall art, it fits an industrial loft, a concrete-and-wood living room, a home office, or an entryway that needs a jolt of yellow. The gray background keeps it calm next to neutral walls, while the bright drips give the room a spark.

My aunt's dusty art supplies in her attic caught my eye during family cleanup in 2015. What started as curiosity about her old oil paints became my escape from twelve-hour days reviewing legal documents.
