About the Artwork

This piece of silver fox art catches a quiet moment in the woods. A fox stands on a fallen log dusted with snow, bare dark trunks rising behind it, and turns its head to meet your eyes. Those amber eyes are the only warm note in the whole scene, and they pull you right in.

Colette Mercer built it with a palette knife in a strict black and white range. Thick ridges of paint shape every tuft of fur, the cracked bark, and the streaked trees that seem to drip into the still water below. Up close it reads almost abstract. Step back and the fox is sharp and alive.

It suits anyone who loves black and white fox art, cold-season woods, or wildlife painted with real texture. If you have been collecting fox art prints, this one adds a calm, moody counterpoint to the brighter red foxes in the series, and it makes a thoughtful gift for a nature lover.

As canvas wall art, it fits easily in a living room with gray or charcoal tones, a cabin-style den, or a study that needs a bit of quiet. Its winter fox art mood works all year, and the neutral palette pairs well with wood, linen, and black metal frames nearby.

After fifteen years reading teleprompters, I needed something real to focus on. My neighbor's cat would sit perfectly still in afternoon light, and I started sketching her during lunch breaks. Now I spend mornings painting animals before the world wakes up.
