About the Artwork
Five silver sardines lie side by side on a white enamel tray, packed in tight like they just came off the boat. Marco Bellandi painted them from above, with lemon halves and slices tucked between the fish and little sprigs of basil and pink peppercorns scattered around the edges. The tray sits on a soft pale blue table worked in loose, scraped strokes.
This sardines painting is all palette knife. You can see the ridges of paint on every fish, the navy backs fading into silver bellies, the bright yellow of the lemons laid on thick and glossy. Small touches of rust red along the rim of the tray give it that chipped, well-used look of a real Ligurian kitchen.
It's made for anyone who loves the Italian coast, a seafood dinner with friends, or simply a good still life with some texture to it. Cooks, fish market regulars and people who keep a bowl of lemons on the counter will feel right at home with it.
Hang this canvas wall art in a kitchen, above a dining sideboard, or near a breakfast nook where the blues and yellows can catch the morning light. It pairs well with white cabinets, natural wood and blue-and-white dishes.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
I spent fifteen winters scraping and varnishing wooden boats in the yards of Camogli, and learned how a blade spreads a thick coat and catches the light. Today the knife does the painting: the stacked houses of the Cinque Terre, harbours at sunset, a lemon or a tray of sardines, laid on in heavy ridges you can almost touch.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
