About the Artwork

A freshly cut fir lies across an old wooden sled, lashed down with loose twine that loops around the curved runner. Lorraine Tisdale painted it in her misty watercolor style, letting soft gray washes bleed into cream paper so the distant pines seem to float in falling snow. The weathered slats and the sage-green needles are the only crisp details, and white flecks drift over everything like a quiet afternoon flurry.

This piece of rustic christmas tree art feels like the moment right after the tree is cut, before the walk home. It has the hush of a true winter landscape painting and the gentle nostalgia of vintage christmas wall art, without leaning on red and gold or anything loud.

It suits anyone who loves a calmer holiday, cabin weekends, or the old family tradition of choosing a tree by hand. If you collect christmas art prints but want something that can stay up past New Year's, this one works well as seasonal wall art through January and February.

Hang this canvas wall art above a mantel, in an entryway, or over a farmhouse bench where the soft neutrals blend with wood and linen. As a christmas tree canvas print it pairs easily with greenery and candles, and it makes thoughtful holiday wall decor for a guest room or reading corner.

I paint in a small converted porch in Asheville, where the Blue Ridge fog drifts past most mornings. Twenty years as a school librarian taught me patience and the value of a quiet room. I flood the paper with clean water, drop in sage and olive, and let the hills soften on their own. A few dark marks hold the scene, and the rest I leave to mist and bare paper.
