About the Artwork

A spotted whitetail fawn stands on long, unsteady legs in a galvanized washtub with just a little water in the bottom. Its big ears are spread wide, its dark eyes are alert, and it looks like it hasn't quite decided whether this bath was a good idea. Maren Carlisle painted it with a palette knife, laying the paint on thick so the white spots, the russet coat, and the silver tub all stand up off the surface.

The background is a patchwork of soft aqua, sage, and dusty pink slabs. Purple and teal reflections catch in the metal tub, and small ripples circle the fawn's hooves. This is rustic bathroom wall art with a gentle sense of humor, part of a series of animals in bathtub wall art that we keep adding to.

It's for anyone who likes quirky bathroom wall art that stays sweet rather than silly, and for people who want farmhouse bathroom wall art without the usual signs and shiplap. Deer lovers, cabin owners, and anyone who grew up with a tin washtub in the yard will get it right away.

Hang this bathroom canvas wall art above the towel bar, beside the vanity, or as powder room wall art where guests will notice it. In a smaller size it works well as small bathroom wall art or half bath wall decor, and it sits nicely alongside other bathroom art prints in a grouping.

After fifteen years decorating wedding cakes, I discovered that precision and color theory translated perfectly to canvas. My geometric work borrows from the clean lines I learned piping buttercream, but now I'm building layers of meaning instead of sugar.
