About the Artwork

Three bay horses come charging through a shallow river, legs churning and water bursting up in white spray around every hoof. Dexter Vaughn builds each body from thick, angled strokes of rust, plum, ochre and teal, so the muscles read like facets catching light. Their dark manes stream back in loose, wiry lines that make the whole scene feel fast.

This running horses wall art works like a modern horse painting with an old love of motion behind it. The sky is a patchwork of golden yellow, violet and red slashes, and the river below mirrors it all in broken streaks. Flicks and drips of paint around the legs carry the splash right off the edge.

It's made for riders, horse owners and anyone who grew up drawing horses in the margins of their notebooks. If you collect contemporary horse art or want a galloping horse painting that feels alive instead of posed, this one delivers that rush of energy.

Hang this canvas wall art above a sofa, in a home office or along a hallway where the eye can follow the horses from left to right. The warm gold and plum tones sit well with wood, leather and deep jewel-toned textiles.

Working cruise ships for six years gave me access to coastlines most people never see. The way morning light hit different ports from Santorini to Alaska taught me more about color than any classroom could have.
