About the Artwork

Two tall palm trees lean into each other and cross in front of a huge setting sun, their dark fronds cut out against a sky of hot pink and tangerine. The sun sits low on the horizon in stacked stripes of yellow, coral and magenta, and its glow runs down across a calm teal sea. This retro beach wall art keeps the scene simple and lets the color do the talking.

Dexter Vaughn painted it in thick, palette-knife strokes you can almost feel. The sky is laid in broad swipes, the trunks are built from ridged, crosshatched texture, and the sand is a patchwork of cream, tan and rose. It reads like a 1970s postcard, only louder and looser, a true colorful canvas painting.

It suits anyone who loves funky wall art with a warm, easygoing mood, from beach lovers who miss the coast to collectors of retro canvas prints. If your home leans toward eclectic wall art, mixing eras and bright colors, this piece fits right in.

Hang this canvas wall art above a sofa, in a sunny hallway, or in a game room where its pinks and oranges can hold their own. The tall format works well on a narrow wall or next to a bar cart, bringing a little sunset into the room every evening.

Working cruise ships for six years gave me access to coastlines most people never see. The way morning light hit different ports from Santorini to Alaska taught me more about color than any classroom could have.
