About the Artwork

A baby elephant stands on a soft green meadow, trunk curled gently forward like it's about to say hello. Behind it, three broad rainbow bands in blush pink, golden yellow and sky blue rise in a quarter arc from the grass. Matteo Ferraro painted the elephant in layered grays with hints of pink in the ears and blue in the shadows, and you can see every brushstroke in the cream background.

This piece belongs to our Painted ABC Animals collection, done in a mid-century painted style that feels calm and a little nostalgic. The palette is muted and warm, which makes it easy playroom decor that won't shout over toys and books.

It works well as gender neutral nursery art for a new baby, and it grows with the child into playroom wall art later on. Teachers and parents setting up a reading corner will find it suits as preschool wall art too.

Hang this canvas wall art above a crib, a toy shelf or a low bench where little eyes can find it. It pairs nicely with other pastel nursery wall art and with natural wood, linen and soft rugs.

Each plane of olive, sand or faded teal goes on with a soft brush, and I leave the strokes visible. Before any of that, I sketch with a ruler. In my narrow room above a bicycle shop in Turin, years of building architectural models still shape how I see hills, rooftops and still lifes: simple blocks, arches and shadows.
