About the Artwork
This pastoral painting by Wesley Danforth catches a dapple-gray mare in the first quiet minutes of morning. Her head is lowered into the grass, her pale mane falls over her neck, and the speckled coat fades into the fog behind her as if the meadow is slowly taking her back.
Wesley paints in a soft contemporary impressionist style, and you can see it in the loose, buttery strokes of the foreground grass, the cream and peach clouds, and the treeline that barely holds its shape in the mist. The light is low and warm, with cool blue shadows tucked under the horse and across the field. It feels like a held breath before the day starts.
It's a natural pick for horse lovers, people who grew up around pasture and barns, or anyone who wants countryside wall art that feels calm rather than busy. Among farmhouse paintings, this one leans gentle and muted, so it settles in easily next to linen, oak, and worn white paint.
Hang this canvas wall art above a sofa as modern farmhouse wall art, in a cottage-style bedroom, or along a hallway where a quiet moment is welcome. The tall format works well over a console table or beside a window where morning light can meet it.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
I paint in a weathered shed behind my house in Gloucester, a few streets up from the harbor. Working as a sternman on a lobster boat taught me to read the changing light over water at dawn. My soft impressionist canvases are built from small, loose dabs of sand, mist and faded sea blue, kept low in contrast so the painting settles quietly into a room.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
