About the Artwork

Maren Hollis built this plain the way a craftsman finishes a wall. Ivory and sand paint is pressed on thick with a palette knife, ridged and overlapped like troweled plaster, until the ground reads as a wide, quiet stretch of earth. Above it, a small pale sun disc glows through soft peach haze in a cool blue-gray sky.

The details reward a close look. A thin umber horizon line cuts cleanly across the canvas, and the lower edge deepens into bands of tan, caramel and brown. This is plaster wall art in spirit and surface, textured abstract wall art that still holds a real sense of place.

It suits anyone who likes their walls calm but not flat. If you collect beige and white abstract art, or want textured minimalist art that brings depth without loud color, this piece fits right in. The plaster textured wall art look comes through clearly in print, with every knife edge catching the eye.

Hang it above a sofa as neutral living room wall art, or choose it as neutral wall art for dining room walls where a soft horizon sets an easy mood. This canvas wall art pairs well with linen, oak, stone and warm white paint.

Working with patients taught me to see healing in unexpected places. I started painting scripture verses as gifts for my church family in 2019, but the abstract backgrounds began taking over the canvases. Now those color fields tell their own stories.
