About the Artwork

This olive tree painting by Maren Hollis centers on one old tree standing by itself on a pale, sunlit terrace. The trunk is thick and twisted, laid down in ridges of warm brown and tan, and the crown spreads out in chunky strokes of teal, sage and soft green. Behind it, misty blue-grey hills fall away under a creamy sky.

Maren works with a palette knife, so the paint sits up off the surface in heavy, visible strokes. The sky alone is a field of scraped and layered cream, and the leaves look like they were placed one dab at a time. It reads as an impressionist landscape painting with a calm, minimal setting, and the print keeps that textured canvas wall art feel you can almost run your hand across.

It suits anyone who loves quiet countryside landscape wall art, a little Mediterranean wall art warmth, or simply a single strong tree that feels steady and patient. The palette of sand, cream and blue-green is easy to live with and settles into neutral rooms without fuss.

As large horizontal wall art, it fits naturally above a sideboard in the dining room, over a sofa as large living room wall art, or along an open wall as large kitchen wall art near the breakfast table. This canvas wall art brings a sunny hillside indoors every day of the year.

Working with patients taught me to see healing in unexpected places. I started painting scripture verses as gifts for my church family in 2019, but the abstract backgrounds began taking over the canvases. Now those color fields tell their own stories.
