About the Artwork

This olive grove painting by Remi Callahan catches an old orchard in the last warm hours of the day. Twisted, hollowed trunks stand in loose rows, their silvery sage leaves flecked with turquoise, while long mauve shadows stretch across dry grass painted in apricot, rose and sand. It reads as an impressionist landscape painting with a modern, vibrant edge.

Remi builds the scene with quick, thick strokes, so the brushwork gives the print the look of textured canvas wall art up close. The sky fades from soft blue into a peachy haze, and every dab on the ground seems to hold a little of the afternoon heat.

It suits anyone who loves Mediterranean wall art, has wandered an orchard in Greece or southern Italy, or simply wants countryside landscape wall art that feels sunny without feeling sweet. If you collect landscape canvas prints with real color in them, this one fits right in.

As large horizontal wall art, it stretches nicely above a dining table, a sideboard or a sofa, making it an easy choice for large living room wall art. It also works as large kitchen wall art in an open plan space, where its warm oranges and greens pick up wood, terracotta and linen. This canvas wall art brings a quiet glow to any room that gets afternoon light.

My neighbor's rescued owl rehabilitation in 2015 opened my eyes to how animals heal differently than humans. The quiet patience required for watercolor reminds me of watching those birds recover their strength slowly, one careful brushstroke at a time.
