About the Artwork

A deep navy pickup with big rounded fenders sits parked in fresh snow, a single bare tree standing just behind it. The low winter sun slides across the horizon in bands of amber and peach, catching the chrome bumper, the tall grille and the red-rimmed wheels. It's a quiet, cold-morning kind of scene.

Brynn Ellery built this one with a palette knife, laying down thick slabs of paint that you can almost feel. The snow breaks into ridged tiles of lavender, cream and soft blue, and the sky is cut in the same chunky strokes. This old truck wall art keeps the fine detail on the truck while everything around it turns into texture and light.

It suits anyone who grew up around a pickup like this, collects vintage truck prints, or simply loves nostalgic wall art with a bit of Americana wall art spirit. A good gift for a dad, a grandfather or a restorer who still talks about the first truck he ever drove.

Hang this canvas wall art in a den, an office or a man cave wall art spot above the bar. It also feels right in a farmhouse entry or a mudroom, where the winter blues and warm sunrise tones pick up wood and leather nearby.

People expect skylines drawn in straight, tidy lines. I hand them to the palette knife instead, dragging a ridge of red against a cool blue and leaving the edge raw. Fifteen years as a florist, setting stems side by side until the colors worked, gave me that habit. Art school never did. I've painted full-time since 2002.
