“Working with flowers for fifteen years taught me about color in ways art school never could. When I finally switched to painting full-time in 2002, I brought that understanding of how colors breathe together into every brushstroke.”

About Brynn

Brynn Ellery learned color from flowers. Fifteen years as a florist taught the Spokane, Washington, artist more about how colors work together than art school did, even with a BFA from CalArts. Ellery turned to painting full-time in 2002 and has carried that florist’s eye into every piece since.

The work blends impressionism and expressionism, with thick strokes of red, blue, beige and brown. Popular scenes take in the yellow suspension bridge over the Des Moines River, rain on the cobblestones of Old Montreal, a striped lighthouse at Hilton Head Island and the arches of Toronto’s Union Station. Ellery’s best sellers are below, each printed on matte canvas, stretched over solid wood and ready to hang.
