About the Artwork

You'll catch yourself looking at this one more than you expected. The view from the Oakland Hills gets the full impressionist treatment here, with thick, sculptural brushstrokes building up the foreground terrain in layers of chartreuse, teal, and burnt orange. The bay stretches out in soft purples and pinks, with the San Francisco skyline sitting quietly in golden afternoon light across the water.

The paint application is generous and tactile. Each stroke has dimension you can see from across the room. The artist works wet-into-wet in places, letting colors mix directly on the canvas rather than the palette. It gives the whole piece an immediacy, like it was painted on location in one session.

Popular with Bay Area locals and anyone who's hiked those hills at sunset. A thoughtful gift for someone who's moved away but still thinks about that view. This is Oakland canvas wall art that captures a specific sense of place without being literal about it.

Works especially well in living rooms or home offices where the color palette can anchor a space. The warm tones play nicely with midcentury furniture and natural wood.

After five years pushing papers at an insurance company, I took a weekend painting class in 2016 that completely redirected my life. The instructor showed us how Monet built light with broken color, and I knew I had to learn that language. Now I spend my days chasing New England's shifting seasons with my easel.
