About the Artwork
Miguel Ortega painted this one on a morning when the marine layer would not lift. A low rocky headland runs out into a calm Pacific, and the fog has already swallowed its upper half, so the sea and sky melt into one pale veil. Only a thin band of teal water and a soft line of white surf tell you where the swell meets the sand.
The brushwork is loose and dry, with scraped textures in the sky and long horizontal strokes across the beach. It reads as a seascape from across the room and as a quiet piece of neutral bedroom wall art up close, where the cream, gray and sand tones blur into near abstraction. Fans of neutral abstract wall art will feel right at home with it.
This is for anyone who wants a room to slow down. If you like zen wall art that is grounded in a real place, or you grew up near a foggy coast, this painting has that hush of early morning before anyone else is on the beach.
As canvas wall art, it works above a bed with linen bedding, but it is just as good as wall art for living room spaces with soft sofas and light wood. It also fits easily into modern wall decor schemes or a calm wall art for dining room setup, where that touch of teal picks up glassware or ceramics.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
I paint in Ensenada, in a small studio facing the Pacific where the marine layer rolls in each afternoon. Years as a lab technician studying plankton taught me to watch slow, subtle changes. I work wet into wet with a wide brush, letting grey and cream fold into each other, then add a thin teal line where the horizon almost disappears.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
