About the Artwork

Late afternoon in a small neighborhood café, right when the sun drops low enough to pour through the front window. Julian Mercer painted the wooden counter, the glass case of croissants, two glass pendant lamps glowing overhead, and a cup of black coffee waiting on the table beside a potted plant. Outside, the street is bright and quiet.

This coffee shop wall art is built from short, thick strokes in amber, honey and soft lavender. The light breaks into patches across the tabletop and floor, and the shadows lean purple instead of gray. It reads as Vibrant Modern Impressionism, loose up close and clear from across the room.

It's for the person who has a favorite corner table somewhere, or wishes they did. If you like the warmth of a vintage coffee poster but want something painted and quieter, this one feels like a real place you've been.

Hang this canvas wall art in the kitchen above a coffee station, in a breakfast nook, or in a home office that could use some afternoon light. It also suits a café, bakery or small shop wall.

Working construction in downtown Boston, I'd spend lunch breaks sketching pigeons and stray cats. After years of twelve-hour shifts, I started painting those same animals at night. Now my Fenway studio overlooks the park where those first sketches began.

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
