About the Artwork

A red and cream striped popcorn bucket, heaped high, sits beside a single silver film reel standing on its edge. A loose strip of film curls off the reel onto the floor, and a wide golden beam from a projector you never see cuts across the dark background. Eleni Markou built the whole scene with a palette knife, so every kernel, stripe and spoke carries thick, ridged paint you can almost feel.

This film reel painting is movie room decor with real texture. The charcoal and slate blues are laid down in broken, angular slabs, while the ochre light glows in long, buttery strokes. It reads like the moment the lights go down and the first frame flickers on.

It's made for the people who plan the double feature, pick the snacks and argue about the best seat. As a popcorn canvas print, it works as a gift for a film buff or as the finishing piece for anyone setting up a proper home theater wall art display.

Hang this canvas wall art beside the screen, over a sectional, or near the snack bar in a theater room. It suits an entertainment room wall decor scheme just as well, adding warm cinema wall art that ties together dark walls and cozy lighting.

My one rule: once a ridge of paint is down, it stays proud. Mixing glazes in a ceramics workshop made me watch color change under heat and light. I work a few streets from the Thessaloniki waterfront, where the sea shifts hourly. I set boats, white houses and lemon trees in thick knife strokes, hot ochre against deep Aegean blue.
