About the Artwork

Caleb Moretti painted the first quiet minutes of a slow day. A band of early sun cuts diagonally across a patchwork quilt, catching the rim of a floral porcelain teacup and the cream pages of a book left open face up. The tea glows amber, the saucer throws a soft shadow, and every quilt square shifts between sage, sand and pale lavender.

This morning light painting is a still life painting built from thick, buttery strokes you can almost feel. Caleb's soft contemporary impressionism keeps the edges loose and the light warm, so the scene reads as a memory more than a snapshot.

It's for the reader who wakes early, the tea drinker who likes a moment before the house stirs, and anyone drawn to cottagecore wall art that stays gentle rather than sweet. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a new home or a favorite host.

As canvas wall art, it settles easily into a calm room. Hang it as guest bedroom wall art to make visitors feel looked after, above a reading chair, or beside a nightstand where its sage and lavender tones echo soft linens.

A rainy Tuesday in 2015 when the library was unusually quiet, I sketched the light coming through the tall windows. That sketch sat on my desk for months before I finally bought paints to finish it properly.
