About the Artwork

This mexican landscape painting puts you right in the middle of an agave field at the end of the day. Rows of blue agave run straight back toward low volcanic hills, and the sun sits just on the horizon. Tyler Bennett laid in the spiky rosettes with quick knife strokes of cobalt and lime, so every leaf has a sharp, raised edge.

The sky is where the heat lives. Marigold, chile red and a few torn patches of blue are dragged across in thick bands, with thin drips running down toward the hills. The red clay path between the rows is built from broken chips of paint that read almost like cracked tile. It is agave wall art with real texture and a lot of warmth.
