About the Artwork
A narrow stepped alley climbs between sun-baked house walls in a hill town, rising toward a rounded stone archway with a slice of blue sky beyond. Eleni Markou laid the paint on thick with a palette knife, so every terracotta wall and every shallow step carries ridges and flat sweeps of color you can almost feel.
The midday light does most of the work here. Cream and sand tones on the steps, rust and clay on the walls, cool gray shadow cutting diagonally across the stairs. It reads as mediterranean wall decor without leaning on postcard clichés, more like a memory of a hot afternoon walk uphill.
This piece is for anyone who loves old towns, worn stone and the pull of a path that keeps going. If you collect architectural wall art or simply miss a summer trip, this one will feel familiar right away.
The upward perspective makes it a natural fit as hallway wall art or stair landing wall decor, where it draws the eye along with you. It also works beside a front door or in a reading nook. Printed as canvas wall art, the texture of the knife work comes through clearly.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
I paint in a small studio a few streets from the Thessaloniki waterfront, where the sea changes colour every hour. For years I mixed glazes in a ceramics workshop, which taught me how colours shift under heat and light. I lay boats, white houses and lemon trees in thick knife strokes of oil, hot ochre beside deep Aegean blue, with the ridges left proud.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
