About the Artwork

Two umbrella pines lean out over a rocky headland, their flat crowns catching the last light while the cove below turns quiet. Tessa Langley built this mediterranean landscape painting with a palette knife, laying down thick ridges of paint so the rocks look chiseled, the sea looks rippled, and the sky breaks into streaks of peach, cream and lavender.

The sun's reflection runs down the water in broken amber strokes, set against teal and deep blue. The cliffs pick up rust and violet, and the pine needles mix olive, navy and gold. It reads like an impressionist landscape painting, but the knife work gives it a sculpted, tactile surface you notice up close.

This is for anyone who remembers a coastal evening somewhere warm, or who wants a room to feel a little slower. As textured canvas wall art, it holds up to close looking and still carries clearly across a room.

The wide format makes it a natural piece of large horizontal wall art over a dining table, sideboard or sofa. It works as large living room wall art too, pairing well with linen, warm wood and terracotta tones, and it fits right in with other Mediterranean wall art.

After years of studio sessions in Nashville, I moved to Colorado in 2019 and discovered painting helped me process the quiet after all that noise. Now I spend mornings hiking and afternoons capturing the animals I encounter on canvas.
