About the Artwork

This longhorn cow painting catches a quiet moment on the open range. She lies in short, dry grass with her legs tucked under her and her head up, watching you calmly. Those long, curving horns sweep wide across a pale blue sky, and a weathered grey rail fence runs behind her toward the horizon.

Maren Hollis built this longhorn painting with a palette knife, laying the paint on thick so every stroke stays visible. The rust and cream patches of her coat have real ridges, the sky breaks into chunky slabs of blue and sand, and a few white daisies and orange wildflowers dot the grass at her feet.

It's a fit for anyone who grew up around cattle, loves a slow ranch afternoon, or simply wants Texas wall art with some texture and calm to it. As western wall art it feels honest rather than staged, more like a field sketch than a postcard.

Hang this canvas wall art over a leather sofa, in a farmhouse dining room, or above an entry bench where boots get kicked off. The warm browns and soft blues sit easily with wood, stone and linen, and it holds its own as cow wall art in a den or office.

I leave out most of a scene. Years as an occupational therapist made me notice healing in unexpected places. In 2019 I started painting scripture verses as gifts for my church family. Then the abstract backgrounds took over. Now those color fields tell their own stories, and I hope they offer comfort on a hard day.
