About the Artwork

A single grey heron stands on one leg in ankle-deep water, neck folded into a soft S, waiting. Jude Archer painted it almost entirely in silhouette, set against wide ivory shallows that meet a curving tan sandbar. Below the bird, a faint reflection and a few thin ripples are the only movement in the whole scene.
