About the Artwork

A quiet Italian lake at the end of the day. A dark headland of silver-green olives and tall cypresses reaches out into the water, and on it stands a single pale villa with a few amber windows still lit. Those warm lights drop into the lake in long, broken ripples, while the sky behind fades from cream and blue into soft pink over the far hills.

Sloane Whitaker built this italian wall art with a palette knife, laying the paint on thick so every cloud and wave sits up off the surface. Up close you see ridges and flat sweeps of teal, peach and rose. Step back and it reads as an impressionist landscape painting full of calm evening light. The texture carries through to this textured canvas wall art print.

It's for anyone who still thinks about that trip to the lakes, or who simply wants a slower, warmer view to come home to. If you lean toward Mediterranean wall art with real color but no fuss, this one fits.

The wide format makes it a natural choice as large horizontal wall art over a dining table, sideboard or sofa. It also works as large living room wall art where you want one strong piece to anchor the room, and it pairs easily with other landscape canvas prints in the series.

Working nights at downtown hotels, I'd sketch the stray cats that gathered by the loading dock during my breaks. Those rough drawings became my first real paintings when I finally had time during the day.
