About the Artwork

This bull moose has found the one tub in the house that almost fits. Sawyer Maddox painted him sitting square in a clawfoot bath, front legs resting on the rim, his huge palmate antlers reaching far past both ends. He looks straight at you with the calm of an animal who sees nothing unusual about any of this.

The painting is done in Sawyer's splash watercolor style. The moose's coat is built up in layered browns with fine dry-brush hair along the beard and shoulders, while the tub dissolves into washes of indigo blue, golden ochre and rust red that drip and spatter across the white paper. Brass claw feet anchor it all at the bottom. It's humorous bathroom art that still holds up as a careful piece of painting.

It's a good pick for anyone who likes a little deadpan wit in their home, cabin lovers, North Woods fans, or someone who just wants moose in bathtub art that makes guests do a double take. As bathroom canvas wall art, it brings color and a quiet joke without feeling loud.

Hang it above the tub, beside a vanity, or as powder room wall art where visitors will spend a minute with it. The white background keeps it light, so it works as bathroom wall decor in both rustic and modern spaces. This canvas wall art is printed from the original painting and ready to hang.

After a shoulder injury ended my stunt career in 2019, I found myself sketching animals during physical therapy. My neighbor's ancient bulldog became my first real subject, and I haven't stopped drawing since.
