About Sawyer

A shoulder injury in 2019 ended the stunt career of Sawyer Maddox. During physical therapy, the former stunt performer began sketching animals, starting with a neighbor’s elderly bulldog, and has kept drawing ever since. Maddox works in Memphis, Tennessee, and holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Washington.

Line art is the style, with clear outlines and a palette of browns, beiges, blues and orange. The subjects reach far from Memphis: Lake Tahoe at sunset behind pines and rocky shore, the palm-lined Venice Beach boardwalk after a storm, Niagara Falls in a full rainbow of color and a single red rose for Lancaster, the Red Rose City. Here are the artist’s best-selling prints.
