About the Artwork

A single coconut palm leans hard off a point of dark volcanic rock, its crown hanging out over bright turquoise surf. Graham Delaney built this piece with a palette knife, laying the paint on thick so the fronds catch light in ridges of olive, lime and sunburnt orange. The lava rock is a patchwork of charcoal, teal and copper slabs, and the waves break in heavy white strokes you can almost feel.
