About the Artwork
A black gondola rests on a green canal at the foot of an old Venetian wall, and that wall does most of the talking. Marco Bellandi laid the ochre, saffron and peach on thick with a palette knife, so the plaster looks scraped, patched and sun-worn, just like the real thing.
Up above, pointed Gothic windows with green shutters frame two balconies spilling over with pink, yellow and red blooms. The water below is pulled in loose horizontal swipes, catching the dark reflection of the boat and a hint of the wall's warm glow. This gondola painting is a quiet corner of Venice rather than a postcard view.
It's for anyone who has drifted down a side canal and wanted to keep that moment, or for those still dreaming of the trip. Lovers of textured, painterly work will enjoy how the knife marks stay visible across the whole surface.
As canvas wall art, it brings warmth to a dining room, an entryway or a reading nook with Mediterranean touches. The tall format suits a narrow wall beside a window or above a console, where the oranges and pinks can catch the daylight.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
I spent fifteen winters scraping and varnishing wooden boats in the yards of Camogli, and learned how a blade spreads a thick coat and catches the light. Today the knife does the painting: the stacked houses of the Cinque Terre, harbours at sunset, a lemon or a tray of sardines, laid on in heavy ridges you can almost touch.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
