About the Artwork

The colors here do most of the talking. Victorian row houses in coral, yellow, and deep burgundy line a sunlit street, while palm trees throw shadows across the pavement. Those bold, geometric brushstrokes catch the light bouncing off windows and balconies. The sky shifts from pale blue to warm orange, the kind of gradient you get near the coast around golden hour.

Thick paint application gives each building real presence on the canvas. The artist uses a palette knife technique that breaks the scene into faceted planes of color, modern impressionist style that feels energetic without losing the architecture's character. Surface texture adds depth you won't get from a print.

For anyone who's walked Galveston's historic district or remembers the Gulf Coast fondly. This one finds its way to former Texans living elsewhere, people with family ties to the island, or anyone building a coastal gallery wall. The kind of present that makes an impression for birthdays and housewarmings.

Works especially well in living rooms and entryways where the color can set the tone. Modern but still warm, easy to style around existing decor.

After five years pushing papers at an insurance company, I took a weekend painting class in 2016 that completely redirected my life. The instructor showed us how Monet built light with broken color, and I knew I had to learn that language. Now I spend my days chasing New England's shifting seasons with my easel.

Finally, some decent decor

Nice to see something that isn't a palm tree or a seagull for a change.
