About the Artwork

A toucan has found the sink, and it has questions. Perched on the rim of a pedestal basin, it bends that huge orange bill straight down toward the drain like it expects something to come back up. This is funny animal wall art with a real sense of curiosity behind the joke.

Jenna Lockwood paints it in splash watercolor, so the bird stays crisp while everything around it loosens up. Glossy black feathers, a cream throat and a blue eye sit against blooms of magenta and violet that drip down the paper. The basin is washed in soft aqua, with streaks running down the pedestal, and a chrome faucet catches the light.

It suits anyone who likes birds, bright color and a bit of humor in the house. As bathroom wall decor it gives guests something to smile at, and it makes a cheerful gift for a new homeowner or a friend who collects quirky prints.

Hang this canvas wall art above the towel bar, beside the mirror or over the toilet. It works as powder room wall art where a single bold piece carries the space, and its loose, splashy style fits right in as modern bathroom wall art in white, gray or wood-toned rooms.

I paint on a screened porch in Savannah, surrounded by buckets of whatever is blooming that week. Growing cut flowers for market taught me that color looks best when it is a little wild and loose. I drop magenta, teal and sunflower yellow onto wet paper and let them bloom outward, stepping in only to keep some white paper bright.
