About the Artwork

A beaver has claimed the clawfoot tub, and he isn't getting out anytime soon. Only his round, whiskered head shows above the water, two orange front teeth on display, while his broad flat tail rests across the rim like he owns the place. Mason Hollis painted the fur in warm russet and golden brown strokes, with the scaly tail crosshatched in dusky violet.

The splash watercolor style does the rest. Olive, plum and amber washes run down the paper behind him, and teal drips trail off the tub and pool around the brass claw feet. It's loose and messy in the best way, and it makes these funny animal bathroom prints feel lively instead of cute for cute's sake.

This one is for anyone who collects animals in bathtub wall art, or who wants quirky bathroom wall art that gets a laugh from guests. It sits comfortably with other bathroom art prints from our Bathroom Animals series, and it makes an easy gift for the friend who loves odd little critters.

Printed as canvas wall art, it works as small bathroom wall art above a towel bar, as powder room wall art across from the mirror, or as half bath wall decor where a bit of humor goes a long way. The cream background keeps it light against white tile or painted walls.

After coordinating hundreds of weddings, I craved something quieter and more personal. Animals became my focus in 2013 when I started painting my neighbor's rescue dogs. The loose, expressive brushwork feels like freedom after years of managing timelines and vendor lists.
