About the Artwork

An empty wooden rocking chair sits in side profile on weathered porch boards, waiting for someone to come back with a glass of tea. Above it, a woven basket of lavender and white petunias spills over from the porch beam, and the late-afternoon sun comes in low from the right, stretching the chair's long curved shadow across the planks.

Adriana Paredes built this front porch art with a palette knife, laying the paint on thick so every board, slat and petal catches the light. The ridges of color give the deck a worn, sun-warmed texture, and the soft greens and violets of the garden beyond read like a cottage garden painting seen through half-closed eyes.

It's for anyone who misses slow evenings outside, or who already has a favorite chair on the porch. If your taste runs toward farmhouse wall art or quiet cottagecore wall art with real brushwork, this one feels lived in rather than staged.

Hang this canvas wall art in a breakfast nook, an entryway or a reading corner, or bring it outdoors in spirit as porch wall art for a covered patio. It also suits sun porch decor, where the golden light in the painting matches the light coming through your own windows.

I paint in the back room of my house in San Antonio, surrounded by buckets of whatever flowers the market had that week. Eight years as a floral designer taught me how petals overlap and where a bouquet needs air. I lay marigolds, zinnias and clay pots in thick knife strokes of oil, soft warm petals against cool shadows, and I keep the background loose.
