“I paint in the back room of my house in San Antonio, surrounded by buckets of whatever flowers the market had that week. Eight years as a floral designer taught me how petals overlap and where a bouquet needs air. I lay marigolds, zinnias and clay pots in thick knife strokes of oil, soft warm petals against cool shadows, and I keep the background loose.”
About Adriana
Adriana Paredes paints in the back room of her house in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by buckets of whatever flowers the market had that week. Before she turned to the easel full time, she spent eight years as a floral shop designer. That work taught her how petals overlap, how color moves through a bouquet, and where an arrangement needs room to breathe. She later earned a BFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her paintings still carry a florist’s eye for balance and an easy, generous abundance.
Working in oil on stretched canvas with diamond-shaped palette knives, Adriana builds marigolds, zinnias and clay pots in thick, sculpted strokes. She sets soft, warm petals against cool shadows and keeps the background loose, so the flowers seem to glow forward. Her style blends the bright directness of folk art with a painterly, textured hand. These canvases bring warmth to kitchens, breakfast nooks and dining rooms, and they add a cheerful focal point to entryways, living rooms and sunlit reading corners. Below are Paredes’s canvases in our shop, ready to hang.
