About the Artwork
Three thick bands of paint sit stacked on a warm cream ground: sage on top, mustard in the middle, rust at the base. Dale Pennington laid them down with a loaded palette knife, then let the edges crack and peel so the linen shows through like worn plaster. High in the corner, a single blush pebble floats on its own.
This earthy abstract painting keeps things quiet. The textures do the talking, from the dry scrapes in the sage to the chalky flecks breaking up the rust. It reads like layers of clay pressed together, a little imperfect in the best way, which gives it an easy wabi sabi wall art feel.
It suits anyone drawn to earth tone wall art and calm, uncluttered rooms. If you like modern boho wall art but want something softer than macrame and pampas, this one bridges boho and japandi without trying too hard.
Hang this canvas wall art above a linen sofa, a low oak sideboard or a bed dressed in oatmeal and clay tones. The rust band pairs nicely with terracotta pots and leather, while the sage picks up any greenery nearby.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
My studio is a drafty garage on the east side of Lawrence, Kansas. Running a grain elevator taught me patience with weather, timing and the slow wear of things, and that shows in how I build color. I pull faded rust and mustard bands across pale sand, then soften them with wax until they feel like old wood that someone still takes care of.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
