About the Artwork

Sylvie Aldridge built this one slab by slab with a palette knife. Thick plates of umber, rust and tan overlap like sheets of old iron riveted together, their edges lifted and curled where the paint was dragged. In a few spots charcoal has been scraped back, and a faint verdigris green shows through like patina on aged metal.
