About the Artwork
Ashley Newman painted this cowgirl from behind, one hand pinching the brim of her black hat while a hot wind throws her hair sideways in streaks of orange, flame red, and lemon yellow. Her teal snap shirt is built from thick palette-knife strokes, with pink and coral flecks catching the light along the seams and cuffs.
The sky behind her is pure Expressive Color: sweeping bands of hot pink, butter yellow, and a sliver of turquoise, with a low purple mesa line and paint drips running down the lower edge. It reads as cowgirl wall art first, but it leans just far enough into abstract western art that the brushwork gets as much attention as the figure.
This is for anyone who loves desert wall art with some attitude, or who wants modern southwest art that feels bold rather than dusty. It suits rodeo fans, women who grew up around horses, and anyone drawn to strong color and a confident pose.
As western canvas wall art, it brings warmth to a living room, entryway, or bedroom with cream walls and leather or wood accents. Sized up, it works as large western wall art over a sofa or console, where the pink sky and teal shirt can carry the whole room. This canvas wall art also pairs easily with sunset wall art and turquoise decor.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
My studio is a rowhouse basement in Baltimore with a single window facing the alley. Designing lights for nightclubs taught me how hot color pops when everything around it goes black. I lay down deep city blacks first, then scrape hot pink, teal and acid yellow across the surface with squeegees and old credit cards, keeping the marks raw and quick.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
