About the Artwork
Astrid Berg painted this shoreline at the quietest hour of low tide, when the sea pulls back and leaves a wide mirror of wet sand. The scene is built from soft horizontal bands: damp beige sand, a thin strip of gray-green surf and a tall hazy sky, each one fading into the next. There is no sun here, just an even, pearly light and a faint blush of pink reflected in the sand.
Her brushwork is loose and layered, with scraped highlights and thin glazes that let the colors breathe. Up close you see knife marks and streaks of cream. Step back and it reads as one calm breath of air. It is coastal wall art that works as an atmospheric landscape painting more than a postcard view, and it sits easily in a neutral landscape wall art collection.
This piece is for people who want calm wall art that does not ask for attention. If you love the beach in its off-season moods, or you are building a Japandi wall art look with soft blues and sand tones, it fits right in.
As horizontal canvas wall art, it settles nicely above a bed, a low dresser or a sofa. Hang this canvas wall art in a guest bedroom, a reading nook or a bathroom with a spa feel, anywhere you want the room to slow down.

I paint in an old harbor warehouse in Gothenburg, where the light over the Kattegat changes from silver to rose within an hour. Eight years on the bridge of a ferry taught me to read the horizon in every kind of weather. I lay thin veils of oil with a wide brush and a knife, letting grey sea and pale sky melt into one soft band.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
