About the Artwork

Two koi circle each other in a teal pond, orange and white bodies curved like a pair of open parentheses. Ellis Whitmore built every scale and fin with a palette knife, so the paint sits up in ridges you can almost feel. Pink petals float across the water, and a cherry branch dips in from the top corner.

The water is laid down in short, swirling strokes of turquoise, deep blue, and a touch of violet, which gives the whole surface a slow, rippling motion. Against all that cool color, the fish glow warm with red-orange patches and creamy gold fins. It's a calm scene with plenty of texture to look at up close.

This piece suits anyone who loves koi, Japanese garden imagery, or cherry blossom home decor with more life in it than a branch alone. If you collect cherry blossom art prints or want asian cherry blossom wall art that leans painterly rather than traditional, this one fits right in. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a new home or a spring birthday.

Hang this canvas wall art in a living room, a reading corner, or a hallway where the colors can catch daylight. The vertical shape works well above a console table or beside a window, and the teal and orange pair easily with wood, white walls, or green plants.

Working with hospice patients for eight years taught me about finding peace in difficult moments. I started painting biblical scenes as a way to process what I witnessed daily. The transition from caring for souls to capturing spiritual light felt natural.
