About the Artwork

A young fir stands upright in the snow, its root ball bundled in rough burlap and tied off with a crimson ribbon. It's not cut, just waiting to go back in the ground once the holidays are over. Daphne Rowe built every branch with a palette knife, laying the needles in fine ridges of deep green, olive and gold.

The background is pure impasto play. Thick slabs of pale aqua and cream sweep across the sky, and the snowy ground breaks into lavender and ivory strokes you can almost feel. The burlap gets its own texture too, a golden weave with the ribbon's folds catching the light. This is seasonal wall art with real paint presence.

It suits anyone who loves a tree that lasts beyond December, or who wants contemporary christmas art that leans quiet instead of glittery. The burlap and soft palette make it an easy pick for farmhouse christmas wall art fans, and it works as winter wall decor well into January.

Hang this canvas wall art above a console in the entry, beside the tree, or as christmas wall art for living room walls that need something calm. It also looks lovely in a reading nook or on a mantel, where the knife marks catch the afternoon light.

After fifteen years helping patients regain movement, I found myself drawn to capturing the opposite—stillness. The impressionist masters at the Boston MFA became my teachers during lunch breaks. Now I paint quiet moments in New England landscapes, focusing on how light changes everything it touches.
