About the Artwork
Matthew Calhoun painted this brain in side view, the way you'd see it in an old anatomy plate, then let the paint do the rest. The folds are built up in thick knife strokes of dusty blue and gray, and every ridge catches a thin line of gold leaf. The cerebellum curls underneath in fine gold striations, and the brainstem tapers down into soft vertical drips that run into the background.
Behind it, sweeping strokes of cream, sand and pale blue fall like rain on a window. It sits right between study and abstraction, a textured semi-abstract piece that feels more like a quiet portrait of thinking than a diagram. As brain wall art goes, this one rewards a close look at the surface.
It's a natural fit for anyone who works with the mind or the body: neurologists, psychologists, nurses, students and teachers who want biology wall art that feels warm instead of clinical. If you collect anatomical art prints or love a human anatomy painting with real texture, this belongs with your collection.
Hang this canvas wall art in a home office, a study or a reading nook, or bring calm to medical office wall art and waiting room wall art that patients actually enjoy. The soft palette makes it easy blue and gold wall art to pair with wood, linen and brass, and it holds its own as medical wall art in a clinic hallway too.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
Drying time is the most underrated tool a painter has. Years of varnishing boat hulls made that plain to me. In an old net loft near the water in Mystic, with fog rolling in most mornings, I trowel sand and fog-colored plaster in thin coats. Then pale gold goes into the ridges, so the surface warms as the light shifts.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
