About the Artwork
This black abstract painting comes down to one gesture. Tomas Herrera loaded a wide brush with charcoal black and pulled a single loose arc from the upper left toward the lower right, letting the paint run thin so the tail splits into fine dry-brush bristle streaks. Behind it sits a softly mottled stone-grey wash, brushed in layers so you can still see the movement of the hand.
It's a minimalist abstract painting that rewards a slow look. The dense, inky head of the stroke against those feathered edges gives it the feel of a zen abstract painting, with the unfinished, lived-in surface that wabi sabi wall art is known for.
It suits someone who wants moody wall art without heavy color, a person drawn to quiet rooms, natural materials and things that feel made by hand. If your home leans toward japandi wall art, with warm woods, linen and pale stone, this piece will feel right at home.
Hang this canvas wall art above a low sofa, a bed with neutral bedding, or a console in an entryway where the arc can lead the eye. It also works in a home office or reading corner, paired with black frames, ceramics or a simple paper lamp.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
Speed is overrated in painting. Before this I made theater backdrops, working big, fast and with broad brushes. Now, in a narrow studio in Valencia's Ruzafa neighborhood near the old market, I slow down. I wash chalk white and warm grey over large canvases and add a few charcoal marks. Coastlines and quiet rooftops come out open and light.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
