“I paint in a narrow studio in the Ruzafa neighborhood of Valencia, near the old market. Before this I painted theater backdrops, which taught me to work big, fast and with broad brushes. Now I slow everything down, washing chalk white and warm grey over large canvases and adding only a few charcoal marks, so coastlines and quiet rooftops feel light and open.”
