About the Artwork

This skyline catches fire at sunset. Birmingham's downtown towers rise against a sky painted in sweeping strokes of orange, pink, yellow, and turquoise. The buildings reflect in still water below, their silhouettes doubling in shades of red and blue. Horizontal brushwork creates movement across the sky, like wind or time passing.

The artist leans into bold color and loose form. Nothing here is photorealistic, and that's the point. Paint strokes show through, thick and deliberate. The palette knife work at the bottom, where reflections drip and blur, adds texture you can almost feel. It's abstract enough to be art, specific enough to be Birmingham.

Alabama natives know this view. People who've moved away see home in it. Anyone looking for canvas wall art with energy will find it here. This one makes a statement, especially as a gift for someone with roots in Birmingham or the South.

The colors work in living rooms with neutral furniture or offices that need a pop. Hangs well over a couch or console table. Big enough to anchor a wall, warm enough to make the space feel lived in.

After five years pushing papers at an insurance company, I took a weekend painting class in 2016 that completely redirected my life. The instructor showed us how Monet built light with broken color, and I knew I had to learn that language. Now I spend my days chasing New England's shifting seasons with my easel.
