About the Artwork

Two pint glasses lean in until their rims just touch, and a few short copper strokes spark out where they meet. Joris Vermeulen painted each glass as a tall, rounded block of amber with a soft cream foam arc on top, then set them on a low green hill brushed in loose, dry strokes. Above them, the word Cheers is lettered by hand in warm copper, like the sign over a good corner bar.

This beer poster is done in a mid-century painted style, with a textured cream ground and simple shapes that feel friendly rather than fussy. It's one of the easier beer art prints to live with: plenty of open space, a calm palette, and a single clear idea.

It suits the friend who always raises a glass first, the home brewer, or anyone setting up a place for people to gather. As man cave wall art it brings warmth without loud neon, and it makes a thoughtful gift for a housewarming or a new bar opening.

Hang this canvas wall art above a bar cart, along a basement bar wall, or as game room wall art next to the dartboard. It also works as pub wall decor in a kitchen nook or dining room where friends end up lingering.

I paint in a canal-side workshop in Ghent, Belgium, surrounded by furniture I never managed to sell. Dealing in antiques taught me to read the warmth that years of sunlight leave on wood and fabric. My mid-century compositions use faded teak, mustard and dusty green in simple geometric arrangements, painted as if seen in a 1960s living room in late afternoon light.
