About the Artwork

A little flat-roofed repair shop sits at the edge of an empty road, its cream walls catching the last light of the day. A simple sign on a post reads Repairs in rust-red letters. Behind it, rounded hills in burnt orange and dusty rose rise against a wide teal sky, and a soft golden sun settles between them.

Joris Vermeulen paints it in a mid-century style, with flat shapes, clean edges and loose brushwork you can follow across the sky. This piece of americana wall art keeps things quiet: one door, one window, one sign, and plenty of open air around them. It feels like a stop on a long drive you still think about.

It suits anyone who loves old roadside buildings, desert highways and honest little businesses. As man cave wall art it brings warmth without clutter, and it fits right in with vintage garage decor and old service station memorabilia.

Hang this canvas wall art above a workbench as workshop wall art, in a hallway, or by the home bar. The teal and rust tones pair well with wood, leather and worn metal, and it works just as well in a living room as it does as garage canvas art.

I paint in a canal-side workshop in Ghent, Belgium, surrounded by furniture I never managed to sell. Dealing in antiques taught me to read the warmth that years of sunlight leave on wood and fabric. My mid-century compositions use faded teak, mustard and dusty green in simple geometric arrangements, painted as if seen in a 1960s living room in late afternoon light.

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
