About the Artwork

Two field poppies open wide in this abstract floral painting by Mason Hollis. The petals are laid down in loose orange washes with fine streaks running toward dark, inky centers, while a single closed bud nods on its curved stem. You can almost feel the fine hairs Mason drew along each thin green stalk.

Behind the stems, a bloom of violet and teal watercolor bleeds and drips down the paper, and small orange flecks scatter near the flower heads. Most of the sheet stays white, so the poppies seem to grow straight out of it. It is loose and lively, but the flowers stay clear and readable.

This piece suits anyone who loves modern botanical wall art with a painterly, hand-made feel. It works for gardeners, watercolor fans, and anyone who wants flower canvas wall art that feels bright without being busy.

Hang it in a white kitchen, a sunny entryway, or above a bedroom dresser as easy botanical wall decor. The warm orange pairs well with natural wood, linen, and soft gray walls, and the purple wash gives it a cool counterpoint.

After coordinating hundreds of weddings, I craved something quieter and more personal. Animals became my focus in 2013 when I started painting my neighbor's rescue dogs. The loose, expressive brushwork feels like freedom after years of managing timelines and vendor lists.
