“Working oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico for six years taught me about horizons and endless skies. When I moved back to California in 2019, I started capturing those vast spaces and bold colors I remembered from both the ocean and my childhood trips to Guadalajara with my family.”

About Tahlia

Tahlia Emerson spent six years on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, surrounded by long horizons and open sky. After moving back to California in 2019, Emerson settled in San Diego and began painting those wide spaces, along with the bold colors of childhood family trips to Guadalajara. The artist studied under a retired professor.

Emerson mixes impressionism with abstraction, often in soft, hazy light. Mexico fills the collection: the pyramids along the Avenue of the Dead at Teotihuacán, the Arcos de Guadalajara framed by agave, papel picado above the streets of Sayulita and the Punta Sur lighthouse on Cozumel. Emerson’s best-selling canvases fill the grid below, each printed on matte canvas.
