About the Artwork

Two faces lean in until their noses touch, eyes closed, lips almost meeting. Gregory Hansen painted this faces in profile painting for his One Line Figures collection, letting a single chalk-white edge run from one brow, down the nose and lips, and straight into the other face.

The palette stays soft and close: warm grays, smoky taupe, and a darker charcoal that drifts in from the left side. That bright outline is dry-brushed, so the darker ground breaks through its edges and the brushwork stays visible across the whole surface. It reads calm up close and graphic from across the room.

It suits anyone drawn to quiet, intimate imagery, a couple marking an anniversary, or someone who wants neutral minimalist wall art that still has a human presence. The mirrored faces feel tender without being sentimental.

Hang this canvas wall art above the bed as minimalist bedroom wall art, where its hushed tones settle the room, or give it a spot in a reading corner or hallway with linen, oak, and stone around it.

Teaching cross-country skiing trained my eye to find variety in a landscape that looks plain white. The habit stuck. I layer ivory and snow gray with cold wax until the surface feels like packed snow, then pull a faint charcoal line across to hold the composition steady. My cedar studio sits on a hill above Lake Superior in Duluth.

It looks amazing!

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
