About the Artwork

Four worn black tires stand stacked in the corner of a garage, and a bright shaft of sunlight from the open door cuts right across their treads. Grace Johansson paints the rubber with real weight, every groove catching a little dust and light, while the concrete floor breaks into thick dabs of cream, honey, lavender and slate.

This tire wall art comes from our Mechanic Workshop Still Life collection, painted in Grace's vibrant modern impressionist style. It treats an ordinary garage corner the way older painters treated a bowl of fruit, which makes it a quiet piece of still life wall art with a sense of humor about where beauty turns up.

It suits anyone who has spent Saturdays under a hood or rotated their own tires in the driveway. As wall art for men who like cars, or for anyone who loves the smell of a workshop, it feels honest and personal rather than themed.

Hang this canvas wall art in a man cave decor setup, a finished basement, or above the workbench as workshop decor. It also works as a garage wall hanging near the door, where real daylight can echo the painted sun on the floor.

A summer art residency in Sweden in 2017 reconnected me with my Scandinavian roots and changed how I see color. The long northern light taught me patience with layers and texture.
